Top Cleaning Tips To Prepare For The Summer

Summer’s fast approaching, and many of us are, most probably, woefully unprepared. Let’s run through some tips, detailing how you can make sure you’re prepared for the summer to come.

A tidy mind means a tidy house

Let’s start from the inside. Let’s face it – the more wound up we are, the harder it is for us to take care of those all-important chores. We know that a tidy house means a tidy mind, but not all of us realize that the opposite it true. Meditate, listen to relaxing music, read a book… You’ll find it much easier to face the chores ahead of you.

Buy supplies

Often, people stock up for the winter, because it’s, “Too cold to go out”, but, in summer, we’re often too hot to go out! So do all the finicky bits now while the weather is just right! All the, “I need x amounts of this, y amounts of that”… Trust me – you’ll thank me later!

Cleaning For Pets

cleaning-for-pets-1

If you have cats or dogs (or both!), I hope for your sake you’ve got a leather sofa, because we all know that pet hair clings to stuff tighter than a squirrel with a nut in the dead of winter. Alas, leather furniture is expensive, so most of us are left on our hands and knees, with a roll of tape, going over every inch of each surface, and praying that — JUST THIS ONCE — we get it all. It’s the time of year that we love and stress over in equal measure: The Holidays.  When our families joyfully descend upon us we all want to put our best foot (and food) forward! Here’s a game time strategy for getting your house ship shape in no time.

A Month Out: Declutter and Downsize

We collect a lot of stuff over the year that we probably do not need to keep.  Decluttering is an easy way to make things look a lot cleaner without a lot of elbow grease.

  • Throw out old mail and shred sensitive documents
  • Get the kids involved! Figure out which toys they currently play with and donate the gently used, but discarded ones to your favorite charitable organization. Organize the toys into colorful storage bins (we found some great ones at our local dollar store!)
  • Pack up your summer gear. It’s amazing how much room you can save when you put away your summer clothes, flip flops and sporting gear.

A Week […]

Fall is our favorite time of year. We know that between Halloween and Thanksgiving we all have plenty to celebrate, but at Sweep Home our most favorite holiday is on November 15th: Clean Your Refrigerator Day. 1. THE MAGIC OF BAKING SODA

You’ve probably heard that baking soda eliminates […]
