Although wine is one of the most loved beverages around the globe, it can produce one of the most feared carpet and upholstery stains. What started off as a warm celebration with family and friends can turn into a major fabric or carpet fiasco. Before you think of seeking help from a professional, here are some simple tips for removing holiday wine stains and spills.

1. Salt

Coarse Salt is among the most preferred methods when it comes to wine stains removal. However, this method works better if applied within the first two minutes of spillage. Once a spill is made, apply a thick layer of salt over the stain. Ensure that you have covered the stain completely and let it sit for about one hour. The salt you have sprinkled over the stain will absorb it, and you can easily brush it afterward.

2. Club Soda

Another effective remedy is club soda. It is believed that soda’s carbonation have a stain removal agent. Pour your club soda over the stain on the fabric and allow the liquid to bubble up. Continue pouring the club soda over the stained area until it fades away. Once you remove the stain completely, allow the fabric to dry. Clean up any excess club soda or spills using a paper towel. Make sure you do not use flavored soda while removing stain even if it’s clear.

3. Vinegar

White vinegar can also be used to remove wine stains. Use it just as it is if you are removing some tough stains, but if you are just doing a general stain removal, you can go ahead and dilute it with water. You can also use vinegar to remove another form of stains around the house; it is very effective.

4. Lemons

The natural acidity present in lemon is great for stain removal. Take half a lemon and use it to rub on the stained area. Continue doing this until you have the stain completely removed. To make it even more effective, you can add some baking soda.

5. Milk

Milk can also be a very effective method for removing wine stains. Pour some large amount direct onto the stain. Allow it to soak in the fabric. Make sure not rub on the stain as this will make it settle into the fabric. In one hour or less, the stained area should be clean. Wash that area on your fabric or carpet just as usual to do away with any excess liquid or odor.

Bottom Line

There is no reason for you to be stressed over wine stains during thanksgiving or any other party anymore. Apply any of the simple tips outlined above and do away with wine stains. The five tips we have outlined above are just the key ones. This means there are still a lot more we could accommodate here. Hopefully, you’ve learnt a thing or two on how to remove holiday wine stains and spills.
